The colors of tea leaves range widely, from light green to dark green, and from silvery white hairs to golden hairs. Green teas usually display fresh light green or emerald green colors. For example, Huangshan Maofeng has plump buds covered with silvery white hairs, and its color is yellowish-green and subtly greenish, just like bamboo shoots that have just sprouted in the mountains. Baihao Yinzhen, a type of white tea, is fully covered with white hairs, looking as white as snow and shining with a pure white luster under the light, showing its pure beauty.
The colors of black teas are relatively rich and intense. For instance, Jinjunmei has a color combination of black and yellow, with black being the dominant color and golden hairs dotted among it, being magnificent yet reserved. Qimen Black Tea has a glossy black color with a faint red glow, as if it were bathed in the afterglow of the setting sun, exuding a classic charm.
The colors of oolong teas are relatively deep. Dahongpao has a fresh and glossy greenish-brown color, and Tieguanyin has a sandy green and glossy color. They both possess the vitality of green plants and also incorporate the depth brought by the passage of time, which is in line with the unique style resulting from their semi-fermentation process.
